How Several Intense Days of Running Coaching and Training Can Supercharge Your Performance.
I hold an annual Running Coaching Camp each autumn. It combines varied forms of training in delightful surroundings; technical development of your running style and knowledge; and the company of like-minded runners. It's great to get away for a few days and your running will receive a boost. Also, you'll gain a greater understanding of how to prepare psychologically for greater achievement (maybe fame and race awards... I want 10%!) and you'll have plenty of opportunity to share ideas and experiences with runners you'll have a lot in common with.

TRAINING CAMP –
ISLE OF WIGHT – NOVEMBER 2009
I had high hopes for Jack’s Training Camp on the Isle of
Wight in November 2009.I intended to
train really hard and push myself, totally focus on my running with no
distractions (children, husband etc). I was not disappointed. The weather this time was not kind to us,
though to be honest I prefer to train in the winter, the heat saps my energy
and makes me lethargic.Jack told us
that the sun always shines on IOW!It
was cold, wet and windy – brilliant!
Everyday was quite intense but fun. From our early morning pre-breakfast runs
and 400 m relays to our gruelling 15 mile run on our last day which consisted
of running up too many hills to mention, against 60 mph winds and stunning
scenery – stopping occasionally to take in the breathtaking scenery was
mandatory (and a far better excuse than the old ‘loose shoe-lace’ trick!).
After a particularly tough 8 mile run, incorporating the biggest hills I’ve ever seen, on day two (which accidently
became a 10 mile run), we returned back to the hotel exhausted but feeling
exhilarated.The half-hour leg massage
which was pre-booked with the hotel was amazing!
Jack was enthusiastic, encouraging and inspiring, with lots
of advice from nutrition to running style/technique, and of particular interest
was race planning and preparation.Our
evening entertainment was a lot of fun (especially the ‘disco’ on the Friday
night!), we bonded really well as a group and I feel that I have made new
friends. I have returned home fitter, tired but inspired! Can’t wait until next year….!

"Fantastic 4 days away. Great coaching given, great running achieved and great
friendships made. I would recommend this to others as an ideal boost to their
running programme."

" Very good weekend training with like minded running colleagues. Some
beautiful gasp inducing runs which really worked on improving cardiovascular
strength. Great to share experiences on what works and doesn't work in terms of
improving our running. Jack has many years running experience and he facilitated
thought provoking discussion.
Excellent way to build strength as part of winter training. Cross country
races seem easy after that weekend!!"

Both Christine and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend
and have both been enthused in our running commitment. I am sure we will both
see the benefits in our running.
Both of us found the Running Camp on the Isle of
Wight important in enhancing and developing our running. The way in which
varying levels of ability were catered for was a delight. The whole group gelled
and everyone made progress as well as thoroughly enjoying the weekend as a
whole.
Thanks for your support and
encouragement. We will be back for more next year.
